Complete Dental Implant Care

Dental implants are increasingly the best option for patients young and old who need to have one or more teeth replaced. Unlike dentures, a dental implant is a permanent solution that remains in your mouth and closely resembles your real teeth. Many Tampa dentists refer their patients out for the implant post placement, and only then place the restoration tooth on the post. At Douglas Dentistry however, we place the implant post, as well as manufacture and place the tooth restoration on top of the post. Dr. Douglas is trained in both of these phases of implant dentistry, which saves you the inconvenience of going to multiple offices for implant treatment. Contact us today to find out if you are a candidate for dental implants!

Periodontal (Gum) Care

According to the American Academy of Periodontology, half of American adults have gum disease. Gum disease ranges from gingivitis to the various forms and stages of periodontitis, and the prevalence of gum disease increases with age because teeth wear down and become more sensitive as time passes, gums naturally recede, and medications can affect oral health. If your gums feel tender or sore, or if they look red and swollen, you may have gum disease. Other warning signs include bleeding and/or receding gums, pain or sensitivity in your teeth (and even loose teeth caused by weakening gum fibers or bone loss), and persistent bad breath. If left untreated, gum disease can lead to tooth loss as well as various serious health problems.

If you have any degree of gum disease, we can help. Gum disease treatments have come a long way! In the past, gum disease almost always required surgery, and while surgery is still an option, many cases are now treated with less invasive techniques first, such as deep dental cleanings, local antibiotics, and special mouth rinses.
